  • What a great time we had at the National Divisional Youth Leaders Conference in Texas.  It was great to get together with like minded people and share ideas and make new friends from other territories.  God's presence was definitely with us as we experienced challenging speakers, great breakout sessions, enlightening devotions and the beauty of His creation.   One of the themes that kept coming out over and over and in different ways was that the best thing we can do for youth, or anyone else that we happen to be working with, is to maintain our own personal holiness.  Pray for your DYS today as he/she (or both) strives for excellence in their own spiritual lives so they can encourage others in theirs.

  • All of the Divisional Youth Secretaries from the United States and some from Canada are meeting at Camp Hoblitzelle outside of Dallas, Texas October 1-4.  Pray for all of us as we learn together, as we make new friends, and especially as we seek God's guidance regarding youth ministry.  It will be a great time of sharing and fellowship.

  • This last weekend Bob and I were in Kansas City for a young adult retreat and to attend "Rock the Light."  It was awesome.  We had a good time with some of the young adults in Kansas City and also had a good time attending the concert.  The following artists performed at the 2 day concert:  Decemberadio, Leeland, BarlowGirl, Robert Pierre, Chris Tomlin, One Way Caravan, Special D, Jackson Waters, Family Force 5, Hawk Nelson, Superchick, After Edmund, Toby Mac.  All of these guys were only on the main stage, there were two other stages that had local artists and some other unknowns performing.

It was amazing being with thousands of other christians all worshipping together.  During the Chris Tomlin concert we were all given candles (it was about 10:00 pm) and we all raised those candles in the air and sang together.  We brought light to the darkness around us.  It was a great sight and really spoke to the heart.  My prayer was that each one of us continue to do that in the area where we live as we strive to change the world and build the kingdom.

  • Well, it's been a while since I posted anything so I thought I needed an update.  Bob and I have been out of the office for almost 6 weeks.  We took 2 weeks of vacation, then we were home for 1 week.  We then went to CBLI for 12 days and then another 2 weeks of vacation.  We are both trying to dig out of all of the work that piled up while we were gone, but we are making progress.

The Lord blessed us once again at CBLI.  He is so faithful and always pours out his blessings as we come together to worship and study the Bible together.  Each year we have been amazed at the great outpouring of His love and mercy and power.  Our prayer now is that as we all go back to our own corps and the world that we live in that we all would allow the Lord to continue to work through us to further His kingdom.

I was reading a story on CNN the other day about Acquire the Fire.  If you don't know about this it is a great concert, teaching, training opportunity for teens and young adults.  Thousands of youth attend them each year.  The story on CNN was stating that the Christian mindset was taking these vulnerable teenagers and filling them with all of this conservative junk and that we are messing with their minds.  As I was reading this I was wondering what the "world" thinks that they are doing to teens?  Are they not playing with minds?  Are they not filling teenagers minds with all kinds of sex, violence, gambling, perversions, drugs, drinking, etc?  Is it ok for them to do this, but not ok for us to present the TRUTH to them?  It really blows my mind that those statements were even in this story.

Anyway, I say all of that to say to you, KEEP FIGHTING!!  We are on the winning side!!
